Blackmagic Design has announced the new Pocket Cinema Camera 6K Pro. It’s a full-frame version of the regular Pocket 6K, but with some features of the URSA Mini Pro. Blackmagic says that this isn’t just an incremental update to the Pocket 6K and is a completely new design, which is a bit beefier, with a whole bunch of new features. One new feature, resolving a big complaint of both the Pocket 4K and Pocket 6K is that it has a tilting touchscreen LCD....

A common mistake made when learning to shoot flash outdoors is to try and crush every bit of ambient light you can. Many photographers think it’s either one or the other. Daylight or flash. But mixing the two and getting the best of both worlds often produces the most spectacular results. It’s also less stress in your batteries. Photographer Francisco Hernandez visits this topic in his newest video. He takes advantage of the TTL capabilities of his Flashpoint/Godox flashes for his demonstration, but the same effect can easily be achieved with manual flash units....

We mount action cameras on handlebars and helmets, and Japanese engineers mounted a Sony Alpha a7S II onto the International Space Station (ISS). As a result, we now have the first ever commercial-quality footage of the Earth from outer space. 249m miles above our home planet, the camera filmed day and night view of Japan and the USA. It took special extra equipment to keep the camera safe and rolling, and as you can expect – the efforts paid off....

Smartphones have certainly gone a long way and they can take fantastic photos and videos. However, not all of the inspiring “shot on smartphone” commercials were really shot that way.
