Thanks to companies like the Impossible Project, Polaroids have seen a massive resurgence in popularity. While Fuji and others have come out with other forms of “instant film” in recent years, Polaroid still seem to see the most demand. One advantage of using Polaroids, is that you can actually lift the emulsion from the backing and remount it onto pretty much any surface you like. It’s not a quick process, but it is fairly straightforward....

In the world of photography, you’ll find people generally prefer primes or zooms. The main benefit to zoom lenses is that you can cover multiple focal lengths in one decent sized package. In saying this, there are some prime lenses that can work well for multiple purposes. Two of these are the 35mm and 85mm primes. Now just to be clear, like any article this doesn’t apply to all people. With the genres I shoot, these two lenses can cover so many uses and really prove their worth....

Two weeks ago we asked you if you can toss a reflector behind your back folded and catch it open. Apparently, it was not as an easy task as we thought. One of the above images was created using a camera and modern commercial lighting with familiar retouching techniques using software such as Photoshop. The other image was rendered using CGI using software such as Blender. They are both top-notch product images, but can you tell which is which? I won’t tell you the answer just yet (sorry, I know you’re just dying to find out!), however, the use of CGI in product photography is becoming ever more prevalent as technology improves, making the 3D rendering more photo-realistic, faster and subsequently cheaper than traditional commercial photography....
