Astronomy Photographer of the Year usually shares the annual winners in September. It’s a long way from now, but there’s another treat for astrophotography fans out there: people’s choice. The contest has just published the People’s Choice Winners for 2021, and as always – they’re absolutely gorgeous. The overall 2021 winner and the category winners were announced last year, with Chinese photographer Shuchang Dong selected as Astronomy Photographer of the Year....

The new 2016 MacBook Pro has been getting a lot of flak. They’ve removed all ports except USB Type-C and the headphone jack (sorry, what?), you can’t upgrade the RAM, and the highest capacity model is a mere 16GB. I know many photographers who’ve already switched to Surface Pro tablets. A few have held onto their 2015 MacBook Pro and built a desktop Windows machine for more powerful stuff. Some have gone with the new MacBook Pro anyway....

It’s packed with action, rich and oftentimes challenging combat, and a gorgeous world that you can’t help but want to explore. The only downside to the beauty the game offers is that there’s no easy way to visually explore every nook and cranny. Since this is an isometric action RPG, instead of first-person, there’s a lot of amazing scenery you just might miss if you aren’t paying attention. And that’s partly why I spent upwards of 20+ hours over what it takes to beat the game running around its many areas....

Now that we know for sure that Nikon is joining the mirrorless party with new full frame cameras, we anxiously wait for news, specs and images. And Nikon has just announced a teaser video to reveal just a bit more about their upcoming full frame mirrorless camera. Nikon’s teaser video is titled Travel of Light and other than being wonderfully trippy, it shows a glimpse of what could be the new mirrorless camera with the accompanying lens....

The old megapixel wars seem to have mostly died off when it comes to photography. But for video, companies are pushing for higher and higher resolutions every year, it seems. As soon as 1080p became standard, they started pushing 4K. Now that 4K has become more accepted, it’s time for 8K. It was only a year ago that 8K would cost you $77K. But now the new Fran 8K brings that entry price all the down to below €8,000....
