With a background in literature and journalism, today Eugene Reznik is the Digital Features Photo Editor at Bloomberg. Before grabbing that gig, he was the Director of Photography of the digital publication Hopes&Fears, an editor at American Photo Magazine, and a writer for Time Magazine’s LightBox photography section. In his current role at Bloomberg, we wanted to find out more about his needs for photography – including what he’s looking for and how he finds new talent....

It feels like only last year we were faced with a technological breakthrough. Dual cameras in our phones. Two cameras working together as one to improve image quality, and increase ISO performance. To let us realistically fake the shallow depth of field previously only possible with large sensors. Oh, wait a minute. That was last year. Dual camera smartphones have pretty much become a requirement now for anybody taking their mobile photography seriously....

Following on from the 135mm T2.2 Xeen, 50mm f/1.4AF and 35mm f/1.2 APS-C, Samyang have announced their third new lens in as many weeks. This time it’s actually a pair of lenses. The 28mm f/1.8 ED AS UMC for photography, and the 20mm T1.9 ED AS UMC cine lens. Internally, both lenses have the same makup of 13 elements in 12 groups with 2 aspherical elements. Their differences are primarily on the exterior....

When Fuji released the X-Pro1 and X100S, they became instant hits. Relatively small cameras with amazing image quality. Many photographers added one to their kit as a lightweight alternative to a DSLR for personal use. Others completely replaced their DSLRs with the new Fuji offerings as their new main bodies. People loved them. A couple of months after the X-Pro1 launch, Leica announced their new M Monochrome black & white only digital rangefinder....
