I was very excited when I first read about the new Nikon D850 and I knew that this camera would be exactly what I had been waiting for. The larger file size is welcomed from a fine art perspective and in combination with a highly improved focus system, fast processors and better ISO capabilities I could easily see myself using this camera also for wildlife. Unfortunately Nikon have not been able to ship as many cameras as expected in the first batch and I was not able to get my hands on one before departing on a WildPhoto Travel photo tour to Alaska....

Most of us, at some point or another, have dealt with the issue of filters that just won’t come off. Perhaps you choose to keep UV filters on your lenses at all times. Perhaps you don’t, but you’ve purchased a used lens that’s come with one. Maybe it’s been a temporary filter like a polariser that just gets stuck. Most of the time, though, they’ll come off with a little effort....

Suggested content and people to follow on various platforms is all well and good. But show it me after I’ve looked at what I wanted to see, yeah? Well, no. Not according to Instagram who is apparently testing a new feature that puts suggested content ahead of the people you explicitly chose and want to follow. The Verge reports that the new feature mixes suggested posts along with your regular content, sometimes ahead of photos and videos from people you follow – instead of putting them all at the end when you’ve looked through the feeds from people you actually want to see....

Unless you’ve been living under a rock, you’ve heard of Mahsa Amini protests in Iran. They started when the country’s morality police arrested the young woman for allegedly violating the country’s hijab laws. She later died in custody, supposedly from being severely beaten. The protests have already had many terrible consequences for the people of Iran, and now comes another one. Iranian government agency indicated that the country would use facial recognition to target and identify women who “fail to observe hijab laws,” among other things....

You might get the slightest sense of deja vu here, but lens manufacturer Irix has announced a new 150mm T3.0 Tele Cine lens. No, it’s not just a successor to the company’s existing 150mm T3.0 cine lens. It’s a new one that appears will co-exist in the Irix lineup alongside the original. The difference? Well, this one’s a regular 150mm telephoto prime and not a macro lens like the other one....
