Also known as CdV, carte de visites followed the early pioneering photographic techniques such as daguerreotype and ambrotype, which were expensive and difficult to reproduce. Cartes de visites were born from calling cards, which bore the owner’s name and usually an emblem, and were presented to the host during a social visit....

A new Nikon roadmap for 2020/21 appears to have leaked, according to Nikon Rumors. They have no idea if it’s legitimate, but the lenses are, as they say, plausible. With, perhaps the exception of one, which seems something of an odd decision to me. A group of wildlife photographers unintentionally became a water taxi for a penguin whilst visiting the Antarctic. The penguin allegedly hopped into their boat to escape a marauding leopard seal, giving them all a close-up wildlife experience. Russian wildlife photographer Vladimir Seliverstov captured the event unfolding from his position in the boat. The Adelie penguin can be seen sitting on the bow of the boat, looking a little as if it’s stuck between rock and a hard place....

If you’re embedding images from Photobucket to other websites, prepare for an unpleasant surprise. They have changed their subscription rules, and consequently broke links of millions of images across the internet. In case you want to embed the photos from Photobucket to another website or forum, you have to pay $399 per year to make the photos visible on third-party websites again. According to Norvic Philatelics, this change happened without any previous announcement....
