Ok, so, it’s not letting you take a Nikon camera with you everwhere you go, but it is a Nikon. Last year was Nikon’s 100th anniversary and this year is the 60th anniversary of the Nikon F 35mm SLR camera. To celebrate, Nikon Museum (operated by Nikon Corp.) has released a limited edition watch. Surprisingly, they’re not selling it for a ridiculously high price, either. Although, it may gain in value extremely quickly, as there are only 100 of them available....

The Raspberry Pi is a wonderful thing, and we’ve seen many cool photography and video projects based around it. But thanks to the MLX90640 thermal camera module, you can turn the Pi into a fully-fledged thermal camera of your own with software you can customise to your own needs. And that’s exactly what Tom Shaffner did. He built a thermal camera using this module and a Raspberry Pi and even wrote his own software for it....

Iranian photographer Alireza Rostami has a limited budget, but unlimited imagination. We’ve featured some of his awesome DIY projects, and he just shared another one with us. He gave a new life to a broken 35mm camera and turned it into a wrist cam. It doesn’t only take photos, but it looks pretty good, too! Alireza is the proof that ideas can come from everywhere when you’re creative. He tells DIYP that he was researching Jewish prayers, and tefillin sparked the inspiration for his new DIY project....

Photographer Tom Barnes shoot on location quite a bit. While he started like most of us using his eye glued to the viewfinder followed by a quick look at the LCD, he has now moved to tethered shooting almost exclusively. And while shooting tethered in the studio is a somewhat familiar and safe territory, shooting tethered on location can prove quite problematic: To solve all the problems and to avoid the accidental spill, Tom build an on-location tethered station that is a hybrid between a Peli case and Optimus Prime....

With all the amazing timelapses that are coming out lately, it’s getting more and more difficult to do something different and make your work stand out. Shooting with a 100MP medium format camera is certainly one way to do it, which is the route that photographer and filmmaker Joe Capra chose to take. Shot on the Phase One XF IQ3 100MP camera, the final video uploaded to Vimeo is 1080p, but having a 12K source frame through which you can pan and zoom brings abilities that few other cameras can offer....
