Sirui has just added another member to its family of affordable anamorphic lenses. The Sirui 24mm f/2.8 1.33x is now out, and unlike many other anamorphic lenses, it won’t hurt your wallet too much. It’s currently available for $750, but you need to hurry up if you want to get it at this price. The company previously launched 50mm f/1.8 1.33x and 35mm f/1.8 1.33x anamorphic lenses, both at very tempting prices....
It’s no surprise that smartphone cameras haven’t become the “DSLR killers” that some suggested they might. Instead, the opposite seems to have happened. Smartphones are fuelling the sales of DSLRs, at least according to the Hindustan Times. There’s little doubt that smartphones have usurped compact cameras as the “gateway drug” to photography. Many people I know, photographers or not, have completely ditched their compacts in favour of the phone they always have with them....
There are a couple of reports right now of users managing to overcome the overheating limits of the Canon EOS R5 mirrorless camera. Well, sort of. By tricking the camera into thinking the battery slot door is closed when it’s not, people have found a way to reset the timer. But there’s a catch. Your footage is pretty much useless. The video above by J. Marcus Photography demonstrates the technique, and how he was able to reset the timer using just a piece of tape over the battery door to make the camera think it was still closed....
Sony recently announced a pair of new smartphone-sized IMX camera sensors. They’re the first two models of what Sony calls their “intelligent vision” sensors. Sony says that they’re the world’s first image sensors to be equipped with AI processing functionality built right into the sensor itself for the fastest possible processing speeds. This first generation of sensors, which includes the IMX500 and IMX501 (both 12.3-megapixels), is destined more towards Sony’s commercial and industrial product clients, but their smartphone sensors will almost certainly evolve to incorporate this technology over the next few years....
The launch of SpaceX’s Falcon Heavy has caused plenty of reactions all over the world. The epic launch has made many of us stand in awe and the photos gave us goosebumps. But, just like all major events, this one has also made many people inspired for creating memes and parodies. My Facebook feed has been flooded with hilarious photo manipulations today, and they’re mainly Slavic (which in my opinion makes them even funnier)....
