I know things with Leica written on them are supposed to be expensive, but wow. Leica has been producing Noctilux lenses for over 50 years. It kicked off in 1966 with the Noctilux 50mm f/1.2 at Photokina in 1966. That lens today has been updated with an f/0.95 aperture. Leica say that the new Noctilux-M 75mm f/1.25 ASPH is even better, and even more expensive. At $12,795, one would hope so, too....

Nikon has announced Nikkor 400mm f/4.5 VR S, a brand new super-telephoto lens for its Z-mount mirrorless cameras. Despite the 400mm focal length, the lens is incredibly small and lightweight. In fact, Nikon claims that it’s “the smallest and lightest 400mm they have ever created.” The Nikkor 400mm f/4.5 is essentially a compromise between reach, portability, price, and aperture size. The f/4.5 isn’t the fastest aperture you can get, but it’s what enables the lens to be as small and as it is....

It was just days ago that Nikon announced closing their factory in China. Today, a new announcement about shutting down comes from Nikon, this time in Brazil. The company has announce the closing of all e-commerce operations in Brazil. This means Brazil customers will no longer be able to buy any Nikon gear in their country, and the only option will be buying in the gray market. The announcement was made on the first page of Nikon Brazil’s website....

This is a bit of an odd announcement. Well, partially odd. Nikon Japan has introduced new price revisions for a number of accessories with “open pricing” for the majority of Nikon Nikkor lenses. The announcement comes with Nikon saying pretty much what everybody has been saying since the start of the pandemic. It’s a result of the ongoing global silicon shortage and the increased costs of raw materials. The list of products for which prices are going up seems to be limited to a handful of accessories and a couple of Coolshot laser rangefinders....
