Aurora borealis, or the northern lights, is a phenomenon normally seen near the center of the Arctic Circle, in countries like Iceland, Greenland, Norway, Sweden, Finland, Russia, Canada, and Alaska. However, recent solar storms have pushed northern lights towards the south, making them visible as southern as New York. Photographer Hannahbella Nel recently witnessed aurora borealis in Dartmoor, UK. She was treated by a rare sighting for this part of the world, and she managed to capture it in a series of photos....
We’ve heard many stories of people doing all sorts of stupid things with their drones. But thankfully, there is also a different kind of people, those who use their drones to do something good. Aerial photographer Steve Fines is one of them. He recently used his drone and a thermal camera to help find a missing six-year-old boy and his dog. Thanks to him, the boy and his pet were located and brought back to safety....
Slovak photographer Michal Zahornacky creates surrealistic mood in his photos, and he does it all in camera. Once again, he has brought together realistic and abstract. In the series he named Curves, he has turned ordinary portraits into amazing abstract, painting-like photos. And instead of using Photoshop, he used only some water and achieved these amazing effects entirely in camera. By creating these unique, abstract portraits, Michal wants to question viewers’ perception of aesthetics....
I’d love nothing more than to be able to slap a digital sensor into my old mechanical film bodies and wander off doing some street photography.
