On 20 July 1969, Neil Armstrong became the first man to set foot on the moon. It was long believed that his reflection in Buzz Aldrin’s helmet was the only photo of him from the entire Apollo 11 mission. However, a rare print showing Armstrong is now on auction, expected to fetch up to $30,000. The 70mm photo shows Neil Armstrong packing the bulk sample on the Modularized Equipment Stowage Assembly (MESA) table during the first-ever lunar extravehicular activity (EVA)....

While looking at my own images on Shutterstock, I noticed the Shutterstock algorithm was suggesting my photos as “similar” images. I thought it was a bug on the Shutterstock website until I noticed that others had downloaded my photos from other sites then uploaded them to Shutterstock. Shutterstock’s similar photos algorithm then noticed this and suggested the stolen photos along with my photos. After a little research, I found that this has been happening for at least 8 years and it doesn’t look like Shutterstock has done more than deleting the offending photos when found, but more just get uploaded....

Photographer and filmmaker Mathieu Stern enjoys buying, modifying and even making his own weird lenses. He dreamt of his latest project for two years and now he’s finally made it – a lens made of ice. He traveled all the way to Iceland to be able to turn his idea into reality. Making the ice lens came with a lot of challenges, but Mathieu managed to overcome them. He kindly shares with DIYP some photos and videos he took with this ice lens, as well as the story of how he made it....
