Photography gear is getting more and more advanced, and it seems that new lenses are being announced every few weeks. But even with all these fancy new lenses, there are still reasons to use vintage ones. Mark Holtze says that there are as many as 100 reasons to use vintage lenses in 2020, but “nobody is sitting through 90 minutes of this,” he adds jokingly. So, he limited himself to a 7-minute video and five big reasons to shoot with vintage glass even in 2020....

Ever since SmugMug acquired Flickr, the platform has seen some positive changes. However, it turns out that SmugMug bit off more than they could chew. The company is losing money, so they sent out an email to Flickr users asking them to help by upgrading to Flickr Pro. When Flickr was on the verge of being shut down, SmugMug stepped in and saved it. Over the past two years, there have been some pretty epic and long-awaited changes....

It’s happened before that musicians get fed up with people who watch a concert through their smartphones. This time, the frontman of punk-rock band Fidlar, Zac Carper, fought against it. Quite literally. As a fan jumped onstage and tried taking a selfie, Carper slapped the phone right out of her hand, sending it into the crowd. I’m loving these weird and wonderful lenses that have been coming out over the last few years. It’s great to see the kinds of things companies are trying out, just to see how they’re received. Laowa’s Probe lens and the just announced AstrHori probe are two such examples of new weird lenses that have popped up. Funleader’s Caplens is another. And now they’ve updated their 18mm f/8 with a new “Pro” version....
