The crop vs full frame debate will never end. Of that there is little doubt. The truth is, for the vast majority of people out there, there’s really going to be virtually no practical difference between the two. But there are times when one definitely shines over the other. Wildlife is one such case. Camera resolution being equal, the extra reach of a crop body can be a valuable asset. The alternative is teleconverters....
According to well-known tipster IceUniverse on Twitter (via), the Galaxy S22 and the Galaxy S22+ will have flat back and front panels with symmetrical bezels. This means the two phones will have fairly similar design attributes as the Galaxy S21 and the Galaxy S21+. IceUniverse goes as far as saying that the two devices look similar to the iPhone 13 lineup barring the notch. The indication here is that these two phones could have flat sides as well....
Sony recently pulled Firmware v2.0 for the Sony A7III and A7RIII that was released in October due to the discovery of two fairly major bugs. These bugs would cause photographers to lose RAW images they’d shot along with random lockups of the camera. Well, now, Sony has released firmware v2.1 to resolve these issues. It also seems to fix a compatibility problem with certain memory cards. They don’t call SanDisk out by name, but they do cite “specific third-party memory cards”....
Developments in camera tech over the last decade have meant that we can put them in places that many of us previously thought impossible. One such person is Adam Honse, who built up a model railway with his dad back in the early 2000s and has wanted to stick a camera on it ever since. And now, thanks to the Raspberry Pi Zero and its tiny camera module, he can. So he did!...
Given the news that Canon is apparently quashing 3rd party efforts to create autofocus lenses for the EOS R system, I’m curious to see how Nikon will respond (if at all) to this one. Tamron has announced that their first Nikon Z mount lens is on the way. It’s a Z mount version of the Tamron 70-300mm f/4.5-6.3 Di III RXD mirrorless lens released last year for Sony E Mount. While there have been some 3rd party lenses released for Nikon Z mount (about which Nikon doesn’t seem all that bothered), this lens would be the first time any of the major 3rd party lens manufacturers has tackled a Nikon Z mount autofocus lens – at least publicly....
