It’s a problem that all of us face at some point or another in our creative lives. We hit a wall and we just aren’t sure what to do next. We don’t want to ask for help, because we like to think that we can solve any problem by ourselves and come up with a solution. Sometimes, though, asking for help is the best thing you can do. Facebook’s controversial “Instagram for kids” got under the spotlight again. The company’s own internal report has shown that Instagram has been causing mental-health problems in teenagers, especially girls, including even suicidal thoughts. After the report has leaked, Democratic lawmakers have started calling on Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg again to drop the project. The Wall Street Journal reported on Tuesday that Facebook was well aware of the harm Instagram could cause to teenage girls....
Stalking garage sales, flea markets and estate auctions looking for long forgotten rolls of film seems to have become a very popular hobby in the past few years. It brought us the work of Vivian Maier, led to the discovery of previously unknown Ansel Adams glass plates, and showed us some amazing photographs shot during World War II. Most recently, thanks to photographers Matthew Salacuse, Henry Leutwyler and Stephane Sednaoui, lost negatives from a shoot with a young Leonardo DiCaprio were returned to very grateful filmmaker Alexi Tan after going missing for over five years....
Finding that perfect slider or dolly is a challenge. I’ve got a few of them now, and they all annoy me in slightly different ways, and for different reasons. None of them look quite like this, though. The MUWI is an ultra small, folding dolly for smartphones that packs up about as small as the phone itself. It’s not just for phones, though, it’ll also handle small cameras. Currently funding through Kickstarter, the MUWI has already smashed its $35,000 goal and currently sits at $195,000 with two weeks still left to go on the campaign....
