Posing human subjects that are in front of my camera is something I tend not to really do all that much any more. I used to pose them quite a bit, and constantly tweak to get things just the way I wanted. It’s only when I started photographing animal subjects, that I realised it’s just not worth the effort, even with human subjects. Poses often have a “forced” look to them....

Well, we have an answer to that. Capture the Atlas has published the results of its annual northern lights photo contest. And yes, it’s just as you assumed: the selected photos are beyond beautiful! For its fifth contest, Capture the Atlast has selected the 25 best aurora images captured around the world. And due to a solar storm, this year people have been able to see the northern lights even in New York and parts of the UK....

It’s being reported by Fuji Rumors that the Fuji press event coming before Photokina opens up will be to announce a new medium format camera. The GFX 50R has been rumoured for a while now, but it seems that it’s finally coming. And it’s coming on September 25th – not the 23rd as many have been reporting. FR says that they have the announcement confirmed by multiple trusted sources and that it will cost “around $4,500”....

At least, it’ll shoot full frame 12-Bit RAW video when the new firmware comes out in a few weeks. The Z6 (and Z7, and a few of Nikon’s DSLRs) will also support CFexpress when the new firmware update comes, too. Not surprisingly, Nikon was showing off the new Z6 Filmmaker’s Kit at NAB 2019, so we stopped by the booth to have a chat and find out more about it....

There are many rules in photography, but few of them are set in stone. When it comes to photographing people, though, there are a few rules that are simple common courtesy. As well as a few that are just a really good idea. In this video from photographer Manny Ortiz, we learn 5 Dos and 5 Don’ts of working with models. The tips don’t just apply to actual models, though. Model in this context is really just any human subject....
