Visual effects are all around us in movies and TV shows today. Compositing different elements together, to create a final sequence that didn’t actually exist. It’s also become a lot more common with still images, too. But it’s often given a hard time, both in stills and the movies. The usual argument against them is “I hate visual effects, they look fake”. Well, that didn’t take long. First rumoured over a year ago and with news yesterday that announcements were imminent, Canon has now today officially unveiled the new Canon RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM and Canon RF 24mm f/1.8 Macro IS STM lenses. Both of the new lenses are full-frame lenses designed for the Canon RF system. The Canon RF 15-30mm f/4.5-6.3 IS STM is a fairly compact lens with ultra-wide-angle versatility....

Canon has published the financial results of the first quarter of 2020, and as it was probably expected – they’re not good. The results show that the sales have dropped by 25% in the Q1 of 2020. Of course, there’s an obvious cause of such poor results: the coronavirus. In the quarterly report, Canon writes that the coronavirus pandemic has caused the global economy to decline. “The U.S. economy remained on a path of modest growth until February, thanks to the strong employment situation,” Canon writes....

There are reports that Canon is going to announce the upcoming EOS R3 mirrorless camera on June 29th, 2021. Yes, tomorrow. Canon Rumors initially reported the news, but now say they’ve received some information that it might just be another teaser. The latter makes more sense, as Canon said they would be releasing more information between the initial development announcement and the final official announcement and, well, they’ve not released any new info since that development announcement yet....
