It’s insane to think that hard drive space has gone from around $500,000 to as low as $0.03 per gigabyte in the last 36 years. It has, though. But that drop in price is slowing down. It has to. Even as recently as 8 years ago, drives were hitting under $0.10 per GB. Backblaze recently had a look into just how hard drive prices have changed over the years, and they turned up something quite fascinating....
Techart has just announced the TZE-01. It’s the world’s first autofocus Sony E to Nikon Z mount lens adapter. The Nikon Z mirrorless cameras have a 2mm shorter flange distance than Sony’s EF mount. Techart has managed to not only take advantage of this tiny space to create what appears to be a fairly solid looking adapter, but they’ve also fit a CPU in there. The Techart TZE-01’s CPU converts the protocols between Nikon body and Sony lens so that it gets all of the autofocus, aperture control and lens stabilisation features you’d expect to see when using the same lens on a Sony camera....
Johnnie Behiri at CineD recently interviewed Canon Product Management Director of Image Communication Business at Canon Europe (that’s a mouthful!), Katsuyuki Nagai to talk about some fo the EOS R5 and EOS R6 overheating issues – and the limitations imposed on the camera. Naturally, the topic of whether Canon was intentionally crippling their DSLR and mirrorless cameras so as not to impact their pro cinema line cameras came up. As one would expect, Mr Nagai not only refuted the accusations but said they belong “on the conspiracy theory pile”....

National Geographic has announced the winners of their annual Travel Photographer of the Year photo contest. From over 15,000 entries from photographers in more than 30 countries, the grand prize went into hands of Sergio Tapiro Velasco from Mexico. The winning photo displays a magnificent sight of an erupting volcano hit by a bolt of lightning. And even though this is the winning image, the rest of them aren’t anything less stunning....
