In September last year, photographer Victoria Schafer was tragically killed when she was struck by a falling tree branch during a photoshoot. The incident occurred in Hills State Park, and two teenagers involved pleaded guilty and they were charged with involuntary manslaughter. They have now been sentenced, and they both got three years in juvenile detention. To remind you, Victoria Schafer (44) tragically lost her life while photographing six seniors. The two teenagers pushed a 74-pound log off the cliff above her, and she was pronounced dead on the spot....

In the last year, I’ve walked probably more than 2000 miles with my camera. I love photo walks, because they are so meditative. There is also great excitement when you get home to look at the photos, to see if you caught any great ones. It adds a dimension of extra beauty and flow to your regular long walks. Following, are the seven most important lessons I have learned, when it comes to getting the best possible enjoyment and results from your photo walks....

I’ll admit that this is something that I haven’t really thought of before, but after having watched this excellent video from aows, I think it explains why I often change the topics I like to shoot. His argument is that the more you do photography, the more images you shoot, and the better you become, the more difficult it becomes.
