ZY Optics has announced Mitakon Creator 135mm f/2.5, an affordable telephoto prime lens. It’s a new, improved, and a little faster version of Creator 135mm f/2.8, only this one was made in five different mounts, including both DSLR and mirrorless. And with the price tag of $299, it’s still fairly affordable just like the f/2.8 version. The Mitakon Creator 135mm f/2.5 was made with portrait photographers in mind. It features a nine-blade circular aperture for pleasing bokeh, and it was built from nine elements in seven groups....

Rumours of a Nikon D750 replacement, which won’t be called the D760, but either the D770, D780 or D790 (the current favourite seems to be D780), have been around for a few weeks now, and the camera itself may be officially announced as early as next week, a report suggests. Nikon Rumours believes we might hear an official announcement and say they have an unconfirmed date for January 7th, 2020. That would be the start of CES....

If we take away all the egotistical hyperbole, one of the big things that stops a lot of people from shooting more (and more serious) photos with their smartphones is the lack of available filters. Sure, there are some polarisers and NDs out there, but when have you ever seen a square filter system comparable to that which you’d use on a DSLR or mirrorless camera? Well, NiSi’s solving that today, at least for iPhone users, with the release of their new Smartphone Filter Kit for iPhone....

The entry-level Olympus PEN E-PL9 has received the “special edition” treatment. What’s so special about it? Well, it’s blue. Oh yes. But, the E-PL9 won’t leave you feeling blue after you use it. For an entry-level camera, it’s pretty capable. It houses a 16.1MP Micro Four Thirds CMOS sensor that’s capable of shooting 4K UHD video at 30fps and stills at up to 8.5fps. We had the chance to check them out at The Photography Show a couple of months ago, although we did get a little distracted by shiny new lenses....

My mom was a florist. She used to say you can always tell a florist by their thumb. Each floral stalk must be cut prior to refrigeration and cut again when incorporated into a design, so if the inside of the thumb is rough and slightly discolored, with tiny slices lining the soft padding, like a hundred tiny paper cuts, you’re talking to a florist. She made incredible floral arrangements, from bouquets to centerpieces....
