It seems that Panasonic is dumping development of their lower-end camera systems in favour of higher-end kit for enthusiast and professional photographers and filmmakers, according to a report from Nikkei Asia. Exactly how low-end Panasonic will go is unclear, but it seems that they’ve finally admitted defeat in certain sectors of the market against the onslaught of ever-improving smartphones. It’s not much of a surprise. Many companies have been killing off compacts for several years already, putting their efforts where things pay a little better....

Photographer Marcus Hyde, who worked with celebrities like Ariana Grande and Kim Kardashian, was recently accused of sexual misconduct. It all started when Los Angeles-based model Sunnaya Nash shared screenshots of a conversation with him, where he offered a free photoshoot only if she sends him nude photos first. After Sunnaya went public, a few more women spoke out about the same (or worse) treatment they allegedly received from Hyde....

Some people in photography open new camera gear boxes on YouTube, others offer photography workshops, some do guided photography tours in London, some mostly sell prints, others spend their days on shoots and there are the ones who publish books or ebooks while “influencer” use their status and kill it on Instagram....

Seven years ago I decided to buy a camera to capture my climbing adventures. Little did I know how it would change my life. Not only did it make the climbing even more enjoyable, it also taught me all the important aspects of photography. A short while ago, that camera, my trusty Canon Powershot G12, officially died.
