Dan Watson decided to test it out. He hired retouchers on Fiverr, had a professional photographer retouch his image, and did it himself using only AI tools. Images of AI-generated humans aren’t exactly a new concept. But now, they’re available for licensing for the first time ever. VAIsual and PantherMedia have announced the availability to legally license 100% synthetically generated stock images. VAIsual is a technology company pioneering algorithms and solutions to generate high-quality synthetic media. It was founded by Michael Osterrieder and Nico Menijes, along with business industry veterans Istvan Novak and Mark Milstein. In collaboration with Germany’s leading microstock photo agency Panther Media GmbH, the company is now offering licensable images of AI-generated humans....
The Hubble telescope has been showing us breathtaking images of space since its launch in 1990. So far it has made 1.4 million observations. Physicist Dr Casey Handmer took 936,000 of these observations and created an insanely detailed composite image of all of them. After piecing the composite together (using calculations and coding rather than Photoshop!) Dr Handmer realised that around 0.8 per cent of the sky was on show....
The video doesn’t only mention the guests who get in the photographer’s way with their phones. It doesn’t spare the photographer guest “who came to take some shots for his portfolio,” the auntie with a DSLR and a pop-up flash, or the uncle who takes photos with an iPad. The FAA has relaxed his drone regulations a little in the USA. People no longer have to register them, and guidelines for hobbyists and professionals are quite clear. When Newton Massachusetts attempted take things further with local regulation, though, one resident fought back. Dr Michael Singer, a professor at Harvard, claimed the proposed ordinance was preempted by federal law and violated his rights. His case won. The court ruled that it was indeed in violation of his rights....
