Datacolor has increased their range of ColorReader products with a new low-budget ColorReader EZ. The new device comes as a cheaper alternative to the company’s ColorReader and ColorReader Pro products, allowing users to measure and match colours for better coordination and consistency in your scene. It doesn’t have a lens, uses only a single LED to light what it’s measuring and there’s no built-in display, relying instead on a smartphone app over Bluetooth....

University of Dayton Research Institute (UDRI) recently published a video showing what happens when a drone hits the wing of an airplane. DJI claims that the video is unrealistic, misleading, and damaging to the company’s reputation and to the drone industry in general. Consequently, they demand that UDRI withdraws the video immediately.Advertisements DJI claims that UDRI staged the video to create a scenario that’s unrealistic and “inconceivable in real life.” First of all, the tested speed is higher than the combined maximum speed of the drone and airplane, DJI explains....

DJI has announced an update to its AeroScope drone tracking and identification system. The update allows drone operators who choose to do so the ability to opt-in to broadcast their information. The AeroScope system essentially functions as an “electronic license plate” for drones. They say that the new feature allows pilots to cooperate with authorities while still protecting their privacy. The AeroScope system provides remote identification and tracking of airborne drones for the purposes of law enforcement and aviation safety....

This is one of those posts that’s going to divide people. Some will love it and completely agree with everything said. Others will hate it, but it’s usually because they’re guilty of the things mentioned. If I’m completely honest, I might’ve done one or two of them myself in the past. But, ultimately, you don’t have to agree with it, as long as you’re happy with what you’re doing. When I first watched Joe Edelman’s Holiday Wish List for photographers, I did find myself nodding in agreement with a lot of it....

There is something amiss with the photo above. I’m not talking about the missing teeth on the left – that’s the right photo. The problem is the photo on the right. Surely we have lost the plot when we start photo shopping an 8 year old’s gappy grin. Arriving home from work yesterday, my excitement at finally receiving the boys’ school photos was quickly replaced by bewilderment. As I looked at the photos of our eldest, I thought – “I didn’t realise he still had teeth when the photos were taken”....
