Well, that escalated quickly. After deleting a video featuring Tatsuo Suzuki and his intrusive shooting style, Fujifilm has decided to drop the photographer as the company’s ambassador, too. In case you haven’t followed the story, here’s a quick recap. After the release of the Fujifilm X100V, the company published a series of promotional videos. One of them, featuring Tatsuo, caused a strong backlash from the community. People found his style too intrusive and “rude,” and the company soon decided to take the video down....

I’ve written about this project in the past, as I originally made the rain machine and shot with it in 2012, however we’ve now done it in video form! Hopefully it shows a little more detail about the construction and how I shot with it. I made this just for fun really, it rains enough here in the UK that you really don’t need a rain maker, but this allowed me the control of putting studio lights outside without getting electrocuted!...

Mounting cameras to cars is a lot of fun. It can allow us to get some unique and unusual perspectives in photos and videos. But how do you attach a camera to a car? There are a bunch of different ways from inexpensive triple suction cup mounts (that work surprisingly well) to extremely expensive commercial solutions. But what if you have a big load to carry that the little triple suction mount can’t handle, and you don’t have the budget for a high-end mounting system?...

Ever since Stranger Things, glowing title text has once again become a popular theme. Much of it now, though, is created in post. It’s fairly simple to do in either Photoshop or After Effects, too. But it always has that look of artificiality. It’s too perfect, too clean. It doesn’t have that organic feel of creating it in-camera.
