AI-powered text-to-image generator, DALL-E, has been available to everyone for a while now. It’s absolutely amazing to play with, but from now on, it could become a part of other apps and find so many applications. OpenAI has now opened DALL-E’s API to everyone, meaning that developers can integrate the generator straight into their apps and products. So if you’re an app creator, you can now start building with this same technology in a matter of minutes....

DJI has announced the new DJI Avata drone, their attempt at a teeny tiny “cinewhoop” style FPV drone. On paper, it makes DJI’s previous FPV drone pretty much obsolete overnight, with a slightly wider field of view, a stop better ISO performance, larger max image size, higher video bitrate and more in a much smaller package. Bad news for those of you who were hoping it would fall under the 250g weight limit, though....

Even if you don’t live in New York, even in the USA, you’ve seen the iconic “I ❤ NY” logo on various objects. And if you take a photo of it and want to sell it, beware – the state of New York might sue you. Vienna-based street photographer Michael Goldrei learned this the hard, but thankfully, not the hardest one. He didn’t get sued, but he got a warning from Alamy that his photo would be restricted for editorial use only....

We’ve seen plenty of awesome photos of the Martian surface thanks to Curiosity and Perseverance rovers. But ESA has recently shared an aerial shot that looks more like an abstract photo. It shows a white icy crate standing out against the red surface of Mars, and it’s truly gorgeous. The photo was taken by ESA/Roscosmos ExoMars Trace Gas Orbiter on 5 July 2021. The crater you see in the photo is 4km wide, located in Mars’ north polar region of Vastitas Borealis....

Famous Hollywood photographer Douglas Kirkland passed away on 2 October. The official announcement of the sad news says that he was at his home in Hollywood Hills, LA, surrounded by his wife, two friends, and their dog. Douglas Kirkland was born on 16 August 1934 in Toronto and grew up in Fort Erie, Ontario, Canada. At age 24, he became a staff photographer for Look magazine. he became famous for his 1961 photos of Marilyn Monroe taken for Look’s 25th-anniversary issue....
