July is turning out to be a potentially exciting month in the full-frame mirrorless world. Sony is finally expected to announce the A7S III, Canon will be announcing both the EOS R5 and EOS R6 bodies, and Nikon seems set to announce a new Z5 mirrorless camera. But that’s not all. Sony is also getting ready to announce the 14-24mm f/2.8 GM, Canon is expected to announce a bunch of new glass for their RF system and now Nikon Rumors reports that three new Z Mount lenses are to be announced alongside the Z5 at some point this month, possibly on or around July 21st....
When Nikon started shifting over from the screw-drive autofocus system of their regular F mount AF lenses to their AF-S system they started adding autofocus motors inside the lens itself. One of the key selling points at the time was that no matter which camera you were using, the lens would always rack from minimum to maximum focus at the same speed as the motor was in the lens itself. Along comes Z mount with adapted F mount lenses and this didn’t hold true anymore, with them generally spinning slower (albeit achieving similar overall results due to the more advanced AF system)....
There were rumours in November that Olympus would shut down its camera business within 8 months, which was flat out denied by Olympus. Now, here we are, 8 months later, after several years of speculation and rumour and more denial, Olympus has indeed sold its camera and imaging business to a company called Japan Industrial Partners (JIP). It’s like “Surprise!” but not really. Olympus posted the notification of signing a Memorandum of Understanding to the Olympus website, stating that Olympus had sold its imaging business to JIP....
Ricoh was supposed to announce its flagship APS-C DSLR, Pentax K-3 Mark III, in just a few days. However, the company has just announced that the camera release will be delayed due to some production issues. This isn’t the first time Ricoh changed plans for the launch of its flagship DSLR. It was initially announced for the end of 2020. But in October 2020, the company announced the launch of Pentax K-3 Mark III for the CP + 2021, which takes place between 25 and 28 February 2021....
