I know some of you must have been on the edge of your seats for this little piece of news, but now we know. After much speculation, it’s been confirmed that the Nikon Z9‘s image sensor is manufactured by none other than Sony. The SonyAlphaRumors website published the news today, saying “the Nikon Z9 sensor is not only manufactured by Sony but also part of Sony’s patent authorization.” Interesting! Previously we had been led to believe that Nikon’s CMOS was developed by Nikon itself, and merely produced by other companies....
In January, Google unveiled a pair of 3D 180 VR cameras by Yi and Lenovo for their VR180 app. Today, Lenovo’s Mirage camera is officially available for purchase. It would only cost $299 for those who are willing to experiment creating content with this new technology. The Mirage camera sort of looks like a simplified Viewmaster, but features two 13MP cameras, instead. It’s simple, but at least it doesn’t look as intimidating as other more expensive 3D cameras out there....
Ever since the first triple camera phone was launched, it looks like the competition has started among smartphone manufacturers: who’s gonna make a smartphone with more cameras? According to a recent report, LG is currently in the lead, at least in theory. The company is reportedly making a phone with 16 cameras. Not four, five, six or nine. Sixteen! LetsGoDigital has spotted a patent filed by LG that shows a smartphone with 16 cameras aligned in a 4×4 square....
I’m sure you’ve heard of Vivian Maier and the incredible story how her photos were discovered. A similar story happened when an American tourist, Tom Sponheim, bought a stack of negatives in 2001. He got them for $3.5 in a flea market in Barcelona, and they turn out to be way more valuable. After developing the negatives, Tom ended up with something wonderful. There was a bunch of photos of an artist who was unknown, but obviously very talented....
