LEDs are getting more capable and more powerful every year. And this one claims to have the crown at the moment as the world’s most powerful COB LED designed specifically for video use. It costs an insane $1,350, requires 1500 Watts of power, it’s 5600K daylight and has a CRI of 95+. As an LED addict, Matt at DIY Perks managed to get his hands on one to test, but in doing so, he blew up two power supplies....
Modern cameras are pretty damn amazing. Charge the battery, pop in a memory card, attach a lens, switch to auto and you are good to go. Not much more work is needed to start getting decent images. But to get consistently better images you need to turn that dial away from Auto and on to Manual. Before we begin, I believe there is absolutely a time and a place for automatic or semi-automatic modes on the camera....
No matter what video editing application you use, one of the biggest pains is the speed at which your final video renders out. Even with a pretty powerful system, they can take a while, especially if you’re using high res footage with lots of effects. It turns out that Blackmagic DaVinci Resolve has a way to speed them up massively. I recently switched to DaVinci Resolve, and so I’ve been following a few YouTubers pretty closely....
It’s not a bad suggestion at all, but I have my reservations about it. The idea of some kind of indicator that an image has been enhanced, augmented, or adjusted is not a new suggestion. I wrote about a group called Real Women who launched their Take Action Against Airbrushing campaign in 2010, whose objective was for airbrushed images to be marked as such with the addition of a kite mark....
Recently I got to work with FX makeup artist Nikoleta Tzani on a few projects. So far or collaborations have created neo-noir demons, Zombie hordes, Baba Yaga (a Slavic witch) and Recently this homage to Universal Studios Wolfman. Being that we are both big horror fans, I jumped at the chance when Nikoleta said she had a wolfman project ready to go. When planning how I would shoot the image I knew that even though it is a little cliche, I would need to have the moon featured somewhere....
