For language nerds like me, a good language learning app or game is enough on its own. Throw photography in – and you’ll make me ecstatic! Enter Shashingo, a video game that combines all three – playing a game, photography, and learning a new language....

Autumn is a magical time of year and a great opportunity to get outside and go looking for those amazing organisms called fungi. This video by Tom Mackie shows you how to take advantage of the fall and create some awesome macro shots of toadstools and mushrooms. Getting your camera low to the ground is imperative to give you an interesting point of view. As you can see in the video Tom has mounted his camera upside down on the tripod, so he gets the advantage of a low point of view but the camera is still stabilized....

It was a classic NCAA Championship game. Perennial powerhouse Alabama comes back to tie the game in regulation and then win it in overtime. The game winning play was a 2nd down, 41- yard heave-ho into the end zone that broke a lot of Georgia fan’s hearts. It was a play that will be etched in their collective memories for a long time. And one image, a screen grab of that play, will also be etched in the memories of a few people…for a totally different reason....

On Saturday 1 July, £600 worth of cameras and equipment were stolen from inside my rucksack, itself packed into a larger suitcase, during a Tunisair flight from Tunis to London Heathrow whilst they were checked into the hold of the plane. Like any discerning photographer, or indeed sensible human being, the idea of checking my cameras in rather than keeping them with me in hand luggage was unthinkable, but as it turns out, I didn’t have a choice....
