During this year’s UK lockdowns, hikers have discovered an airplane crash site in the Peak District. Of course, everyone now wants a photo of it. The invasion of “Instagram hikers” has gotten dangerous for Instagrammers themselves, but it has also created new problems for the rescue teams in the area....

Hitting the news recently has been the story about the YouTube family “DaddyoFive” losing custody of two of their children due to an ongoing series of prank videos. I haven’t watched any of the DaddyoFive videos, nor do I intend to, so I am not going to comment on that particular situation, but as a stock photographer I routinely sell images of my children, so this raises a serious bigger question: is it OK to use your kids for profit?...

Kodak issued wonderful news at CES 2017. To the joy of all film lovers, they are bringing back the legendary Ektachrome Still Film. The company plans to reformulate and produce the Ektachrome 135 still frame. In late 2017, the film will be back on the market. Also, Kodak is re-launching Ektachrome Super 8 film to go along their recently introduced Super 8 movie camera. So, both photographers and filmmakers have something to look forward to!...

So far, it seems 2017 has been the year of comebacks. Leica is another brand bringing the vintage gear back, and they’re resurrecting their 1935 soft-focus lens, Thambar 90mm f/2.2. The classic lens returns with the old design and the soft-focus look of its predecessor. However, there are still some changes and improvements coming with the modern version. First of all, the new lens is named Thambar-M 1:2.2/90. The “M” comes from the mount type because the new version will have the Leica M instead of the L screw mount....
