Octopuses are interesting and intriguing creatures in more than one way. While they have some unique bodily traits, like three hearts, they also keep surprising us with their remarkable intelligence. They have characters, they can be mischievous, and they can even recognize faces. And if your face is a friendly one – you may even get a hug. This is exactly what happened to a group of divers from Campbell River, Canada....
The organisers of Photokina at the Koelnmesse have just announced that Photokina, the Biennial photography trade show in Cologne, Germany, has come to an end after 70 years. The show had sent out emails to exhibitors this morning, letting them know what was going on, and then announced the news publicly via press release. They say that this hasn’t been directly caused by the coronavirus pandemic, although it did cause the cancellation of Photokina 2020, stating that “the imaging market was already subject to strong upheaval, with annual declines in the double digits”....
Well, a July 9th announcement for the Canon EOS R5 and EOS R6 mirrorless bodies looks to be pretty much confirmed now as Canon websites across the world are putting up pages teasing the event, with Canon Japan even including a countdown timer. The date had previously been rumoured, but nothing was official, until now. Obviously Canon hasn’t come right and said that this is for the EOS R5 and EOS R6, but given that they’re billing it as “our largest product launch to date”, it probably is – especially given the list of speakers....
Canon’s popular EOS M50 was released only a couple of years ago, and we spoke with Canon about it when we were at The Photography Show back in 2018. But now it looks like we might see an EOS M50 Mark II coming at some point this year. Or, at least an announcement. Canon Rumors reports that there’s a higher-end APS-C camera coming to Canon’s mirrorless lineup and they’ve been told that it will be an EOS M50 successor....
One of the biggest problems I hear people talking about when it comes to gimbals it the lack of autofocus. In an ideal world, we’d either be able to hold the gimbal with one hand and easily move the focus wheel manually with the other or we’d just have a separate focus puller to deal with it for us so we can concentrate on the composition. But it’s rarely that easy for most of us....
