One would say we’re all used to the fact that burgers always look way more appetizing in photos than they do in life. However, a New York man recently filed a lawsuit over those misleading ads we’re all so accustomed to. The man, named Justin Chimenti, sued McDonald’s and Wendy’s for “unfair and deceptive trade practices.” He’s seeking $50 million in damages for himself and everyone else who thought that burgers actually look like they do in the ads....

We’ve seen several uses of AI aimed at improving photos. Whether it’s improving their resolution, or turning selfies into decent portraits, they usually work on a single, existing photo. But a method from NVIDIA generates the photos of people that don’t actually exist. And it’s interesting and kinda creepy at the same time. The team of scientists behind the project has released a paper on the use of a generative adversarial network (GAN) to grow both the generator (which produces a sample) and discriminator (“adaptive loss function that gets discarded once the generator has been trained”)....

Since the initial and somewhat vague “development announcement” in September, Nikon has remained pretty tight-lipped about the impending Nikon D6. They haven’t even said when they’re announcing it, yet, although all indicators pointed towards a date in early 2020, following on from the January 6th announcement dates in 2012 and 2016 for the D4 and D5 respectively. But it seems the announcement may come in a tad later, according to a report on Nikon Rumors....
