Presets for Lightroom and other applications are often the centre of controversy. Some people can’t live without them and actively panic when their software updates and no longer reads their old presets accurately. The other extreme puts those that use presets in the “you’re not a photographer if” category. In between, though, there is some middle ground. Things are rarely this black and white. Just last night, I was having a conversation with my cousin about how addictive and dangerous social media can be if we use them excessively. If we let social media control us, it can ruin our self-esteem, and alter our views of the world and of our own lives. It seems that we hear about all sorts of unprofessional photographers more and more often. The latest incident is a bit unusual though. A wedding videographer from Australia lied about his skill, and possibly even his age. As it turned out, he is just a teenage kid who films terrible videos, and he ended up in national news after screwing up a few of them. Brides Amy and Teagan paid $1,900 AUD (around $1,300 USD) for videography packages with Simplicity Films, a business run by a young man named Ashley....

As the world starts to come out of strict lockdown, people are out enjoying themselves again. For some people, enjoyment means finally heading back outside with their cameras. For others, it means harassing random people trying to shoot photos with expensive camera gear and pushing them into lakes. A video has just surfaced of an event that happened in Verulamium Park in Hertfordshire, England. An unknown man approached a female photographer while she was shooting on the edge of the lake at Verulamium Park and then pushed her right into the water along with her expensive kit, damaging it and causing bruising to her arm....

Wedding photographers sometimes rant about guests who stand in the way with their phones. But at a recent wedding in Minnesota, this got a whole new dimension. It wasn’t guests who got in the way of the photographer (and everyone else) – but someone who appears to be a stranger.
