The Hasselblad name is synonymous today with luxury and quality. When you shoot with one, it’s easy to see why. There isn’t a massive amount of information out there on the company’s founder, though. Born in 1906 in Gothenburg, Sweden, Victor ultimately ended up working in his father’s family store. After a familial dispute, he broke off from his father’s family store to open Victor Foto in 1937, specialising in photographic equipment and processing....

Adobe’s been getting a lot of press lately. Some good, but mostly bad. It’s caused a lot of people to become very upset, particularly people on Twitter who don’t understand what the word “subscription” means and think they’re still buying a perpetual license. Regardless, it’s bound to have lost Adobe a few subscribers. To help draw in some fresh ones, though, Adobe is knocking 40% off the “All Apps” package in at least the USA and the UK....

Here at the photography blogosphere, a few blogs picked up on a tweet from Krita@mastodon.art calling Adobe out for having a policy that allows them to use users’ photos stored on the cloud to train its AI systems. Since then, Adobe has released a statement to Peta Pixel telling that they do not use users’ data for Experimental Generative AI features. I am not an attorney, but I can see at least two reservations here with the words “Experimental” and “Generative”....

Earlier this month, DJI announced the best 2017 drone photos of their SkyPixel contest. The winner got valuable prizes, but then it turned out that the photo wasn’t even shot from a drone. As a matter of fact, it wasn’t even shot in 2017, but three years earlier. The rules of the contest require photographers to submit photos taken using “any aerial platform” and taken in 2017. However, PetaPixel reports that the winning image in the Landscape category doesn’t meet either of the requirements....
