I imagine a world where, at some point, somebody told Kathy Griffin she was funny as some kind of prank. But, she believed it and has ran with it ever since. Sure, I’m probably not all that funny, either, but I’m not attempting to make a living out of it. Her latest act of “comedy” has landed both Griffin and photographer Tyler Shields in some pretty hot water. The photo, obscured above, shows Griffin holding up a blood covered Donald Trump mask, made to look like a decapitated head....

While the Kodak name doesn’t have the same impact it once did, Kodak is still out there and they’ve kicked off CES 2019 with several new gear announcements. There are two new models of Kodak Smile instant camera. There’s the Kodak Smile Classic and the regular Kodak Smile. There’s a Kodak Smile Instant Digital Printer, too, compatible with iOS and Android devices and can be sent photos via Bluetooth for printing from your Smartphone....

A couple of months ago, it was announced that some airports across the US had switched over from the more traditional X-Ray machines to use Computer Tomography (CT) scanners to check passenger luggage. Unlike film, which can usually handle a few x-rays just fine if it’s low ISO, CT scans will destroy pretty much any film almost instantly. With this technology set to expand to at least 145 airports in total, Kodak has posted an advisory to Facebook with some guidance on travelling with film....

UK based filter company LEE Filters is producing their filters for the first time in a circular form, no longer needing to use a filter holder. Aimed at both stills and video shooters, the Elements range comprises neutral density filters called Big and Little Stoppers, a circular polarizer, and a variable neutral density filter. The filters are available in four standard sizes of 67mm, 72mm, 77mm and 82mm. LEE Elements comprises five filter types: Little Stopper (offering 6 stops of light reduction), Big Stopper (10 stops of light reduction), CPL (circular polariser) and two densities of VND (variable ND, providing 2-5 or 6-9 stops of light reduction)....

As LED lights have gotten more powerful and colour accurate, they’ve pretty much become the new standard for continuous lighting, replacing the more traditional tungsten lights on-set. One of the things LED lights have now started to incorporate more often is DMX lighting control. Conceived in the 1980s, DMX allows the remote control of one or multiple lights from a single control base.
