The new Nikon Z cf APS-C mirrorless was only announced four days ago and Nikon has already issued a statement claiming that they can’t keep up with the pre-order demands. The statement was posted to the Nikon Japan website yesterday, citing the “large number of reservations”. This goes for both the Z fc body only as well as the kit containing the new 28mm f/2.8 Special Edition lens. I suppose it’s not entirely unexpected, as every single product announced by any manufacturer in the world of photography and video these days seems to be followed up by an “Oh no, we didn’t realise it’d be this popular!...

The promotional video for Microsoft’s new Pix app is very impressive. Sure, sometimes you want to get as much control as you can, so you fire up Camera+ or 645 Pro. Sometimes, though, you just want to bring up the app and grab a half decent snap. Now, Microsoft have now launched Pix, a camera application that takes all the pain out of pointing & shooting with the iPhone. Sadly, there’s no Android version yet, and surprisingly no version for Windows Mobile, either....

Google have released a new version of Snapseed with a drastically overhauled user interface. Version 2.18 is available for both iOS and Android. You know Snapseed, it’s the reason Google bought Nik Software. A company which offered a fantastic suite of desktop tools Google then abandoned. They say that the new user interface is designed for faster editing and a more efficient workflow. All of the usual features are still there, and a new perspective correction feature has also been added....

Photography accessories company Moment is confirming their presence in the camera bag market by launching another travel camera backpack. This time around they have paired up with travel photographer Emmett Sparling to create the 35L Day Chaser Backpack. Sparling says that he spent 5 years travelling with every type of camera bag possible, and was increasingly frustrated by the options available. They were either traditional bags that locked you into a pre-set configuration, and often didn’t protect your gear very well....

Photos of the Earth from space always remind me just how small I am in the grander scheme of things. And in a way, it brings me comfort and peace. But a recent photo of our home planet had quite the opposite effect on me, even though it wasn’t the intention behind it. NASA’s Lucy spacecraft captured this black-and-white image of the Earth, making it look quite gloomy and depressing...
