The Light L16 is a unique oddity amongst cameras. If you’ve never heard of it before, it uses an array of 16 cameras and lenses to create “DSLR quality in the palm of your hand”. Whether that claim is true or not remains to be seen. But see we will, and quite soon now. First announced in October 2015, Light L16 will enter into its Expanded Beta phase in May, with pre-orders starting to be shipped in July....
Kandao has launched its new QooCam EGO camera. Claiming to be “the World’s first 3D camera for instant immersion”, this small handheld camera features a pair of lenses and sensors for capturing two viewpoints simultaneously. This concept isn’t new, and there have been plenty of devices in the past that can do this like the Insta360 EVO and the Weeview SID, but this is the first that offers easy and instant 3D playback on the spot....
The renewed interest in film lately is fantastic for those who have an affinity for film. It means that the films and products we love will continue to live a while longer. Well, as long as they’re not made by Fuji. It’s resurrected old film, brought a few new ones, as well as the occasional product mixing the old tech with the new. Now, though, the first newly designed 35mm fully manual SLR in 25 years is coming....
There are quite a lot of sliders out there these days, and many of them are excellent for timelapse, but quite a few of them have one big problem when it comes to video. That problem is noise, which can make it difficult to not only get a good sync track on the camera, but the slider can actually be picked up by dedicated microphones for external audio, too. We’d heard that the new Shark Slider Nano from iFootage, though, is whisper quiet....
My daily stroll through the newly built but already decaying park near my apartment in Hanoi listening to Spotify on a brisk (by SE Asia standards) morning has me in deep thought. We only get this type of weather for a couple months a year here and I absolutely love it. I grew up in New England and this is the temperature I was built for, I truly am a different person....
