With such a varied world around us, it’s quite straightforward to find new and interesting subjects to shoot. But is this really pushing our abilities as photographers? Is it the subject that makes our new images interesting or how we photograph them? Getting a decent photograph of an interesting subject is easy, but what about a boring subject? To photograph a rather boring and mundane object – in this case, an avocado – in as many different ways as possible to try to make some interesting images....

Is it okay to ditch a wedding photography client a night before their big day? I believe most of us would scream “NO!” with steam coming out of our ears. However, there may be situations when it’s perfectly justified. Photographer Shayla Herrington found herself in a situation like this. After she canceled her services a night before a wedding she’d been booked for, the bride left her a negative review on Facebook....

Sometimes, when you’re out making photographs, you have a bad day. Other times, you have a really bad day. This seems to be the latter after a photographer allegedly drove a $350,000 Lamborghini Aventador through a car showroom window. The Lancashire Evening Post reports that a man, believed to be the photographer, got behind the wheel of the Aventador in order to reposition it slightly for a better shot during a shoot at Amari Supercars in Preston, England....

Camera equipment is an ever-increasing target for thieves, and unlike mobile phones and other electronic equipment, it doesn’t usually come with tracking or disabling devices installed. But tracking options do exist, we just need to add them to our gear. One photographer in Australia was incredibly fortunate to be able to recover around $7,000 worth of camera equipment after putting Apple AirTags on a few of the higher value items....

So, this is an interesting, if rather unusual idea. Photonicz is an LED based strobe (a world’s first, apparently) designed to offer the advantages of both strobes, and modern LED technology. Lots of power, lightweight, portable power through V-Mount batteries, weather sealed… It sounds ideal. But, it does kind of just look like a giant heatsink with an LCD bolted on. The product is currently being funded through Kickstarter where they say they’re ready to start tooling and production....
