Canon really has fought back at the claim that mirrorless lenses are too big with this one. They’ve just announced their new RF 70-200mm f/4L IS USM lens and it’s ridiculously small, measuring a mere 119mm at its shortest length. It’s almost a third shorter than its EF mount equivalent, as well as being lighter. And it can be locked at its short 70mm end for travel and storage. It’s not all rainbows and sunshine, though....
Judging from patents for a new mount and 16-28mm f/2.8 lens, a new Canon full frame mirrorless camera is in the works. But according to the latest reports, Canon will not launch just one, but two full frame mirrorless cameras in the middle of 2019. Earlier this year, Canon’s manager confirmed that the company will shift focus to mirrorless cameras. And they’re apparently working on it. First the APS-C mirrorless camera Canon EOS M50 was announced, and we even had a chance to get the first look at it at The Photography Show in Birmingham....
Photographer and teacher Todd Bigelow is a little upset, although at first glance it might appear to be a little confusing as to why. As a teacher of The Business of Photography, at various universities , Todd has received many emails and letters of thanks from those students who have had the opportunity to learn from his wisdom. While initially quite the little ego boost, Todd became concerned when he started to dig a little deeper into why the students were thanking him, and it took on a significantly more worrisome meaning....
A week or so ago, Resource magazine published a pretty in-depth article into what’s going on with F-Stop Gear. More specifically, their long overdue KitSentry Kickstarter project. Now, F-Stop Gear has announced an end to the project. F-Stop Gear also stated that they will not be reimbursing backers. The KitSentry looked very promising. You have ID tags on your gear and a unit that keeps track of them in your bag....
There hasn’t been a lot of information about the Fujifilm GFX 100S yet, but some photos have been discovered on Instagram. They were actually posted to Instagram back in October 2018 by gao3366, but nobody seems to have noticed them until they were sent to Fuji Rumors. The four images were posted as a single Instagram post, so you’ll have to flick through them in the embed, but they show the GFX 100S from the front, top, rear and side views, being held in a hand to give you a sense of overall scale....
