Along with the announcement of the new Sony FX30 APS-C cinema camera, Sony has also released two new capacities of their Sony Tough CFexpress Type A memory cards. This expands their existing 80GB and 160GB capacity versions with 320GB and the largest CFexpress Type A card to date from any manufacturer at 640GB. The new large capacity cards offer maximum write speeds of up to 700MB/sec and sustained write speeds of up to 400MB/sec for the kind of 4K 120fps high bit rate video shooting that the Sony FX30 and FX3 provide....

A while back me and fellow DIY writer Joseph Parry were chatting over messenger. We had just started following a blog called Canon of design by Tavis Leaf Glover. Canon of design is a treasure mine of compositional information, which studies the master painters and how they designed, constructed and finished their masterpieces. These guys spent months, even years creating one image. Nothing was left to chance. Composition was perfectly drawn out, over and over again, until the image was compositionally bullet proof....

The Raspberry Pi is amazing. Instant cameras are also amazing. So, it makes sense that somebody would eventually combine them, creating a Raspberry Pi powered instant camera, which is exactly what Adafruit have done. The African Wildlife Foundation (AWF) and Nature’s Best Photography (NBP) have announced the winners of the 2022 Benjamin Mkapa African Wildlife Photography Awards. This contest “Brings Africa to the World, and the World to Africa,” and it introduces us to diverse African wildlife through a series of stunning images. This year’s competition attracted 9,500 entries from 57 countries including entrants from 16 African countries. The overall winner is Michelle Kranz, and her amazing portrait of an endangered mountain gorilla brought her a US$ 5,000 grand prize and a large specially-commissioned stone elephant sculpture....

Adobe has published a report about “The Future of Creativity”. The brand behind Photoshop and Lightroom discovered that more than 165 million creators joined the global creator economy in the last two years. The study finds that the Creator Economy –the economy empowering people who are monetizing their content, goods and services online by leveraging their own creativity, talents and passions –grew by more than 165 million creators over the past two years to 303 million creators globally....
