But regardless of which category we fall into, we want to get the best footage we can. A phone’s only ever going to be so good, but that doesn’t mean we can’t make the effort. I enjoy learning about people who made history and paved the way for the generations after them. This photo shows three of these women captured together way back in the late 19th century. These are the first three licensed women doctors from their respective countries who obtained a degree in Western medicine. The photo is dated 10 October 1885. The three women, from left to right, are Anandibai Joshee from India, Kei Okami from Japan, and Sabat Islambooly from Syria....

DJI’s last two iterations of Osmo Mobile handheld gimbal for smartphones have been pretty popular. But like most smartphone gimbals, they can be a bit big when not in use, not that easy to transport. So, for the new Osmo Mobile 3 announced today (nope, it wasn’t a drone announcement), DJI has gone foldable. As well as being physically smaller than the Osmo Mobile 2, the price is a little smaller, too, at only $119 for the basic package....

These phone vs “real camera” comparisons are getting a little old. They usually end up one of two ways. I love the immediacy of digital photography. In fact, I’m puzzled how anyone managed to gain expertise in the days of film: it takes hours, sometimes days, to get any feedback on the shot you’ve taken. By that time, I’ve usually forgotten about the camera settings I used or even what I was trying to achieve with the photograph. That said… there’s something about the tangibility of using and developing film that’s missing from digital photography....
