Normally, when we use the phrase “field test”, it’s not meant quite so literally. It just means putting the camera to work in its typical usage environment. Camera use is quite broad, though. In this video from music photographer Matt Higgs for WEX Photographic, though, the 6D Mark II is taken to task in a field at the 2000 Trees festival in the UK. Music festivals can be great places to really test a camera’s limits....

At IBC 2019, Aputure had only just announced their new 600D LED light. But already it looks to have some serious competition in the form of Nanlite’s Forza 500. We visited the Nanlite stand to find out more about it, and to check out their new, massive, 10″ Fresnel modifier for it. The Nanlite Forza is a Bowens mount continuous LED light and comes in two flavours. There’s the Forza 500, which is equivalent to a 575 Watt HMI and a lower powerer Forza 300....

Apparently, this distracted him, and he handed up the wrong envelope to the Best Picture presenters Warren Beatty and Faye Dunaway. Warren Beatty explained that the envelope he held wrote “Emma Stone”....

Zhiyun just announced a smartphone gimbal that is cheaper than a cup of soup in some restaurants – the Smooth X. I am actually kinda surprised by the number of features you can cram into a gadget that costs so little. The biggest highlight of this gimbal is the fact that it folds down to pocket size. Ideally, that would make it easier to have the gimbal ready whenever you want it....

This is an odd one, and I’m curious what you guys think. When I first saw this, I thought “that’s the dumbest thing I’ve ever seen”, but a couple of friends said it looks quite useful to them. The more I thought about it, I could see potential uses. But some of the claims made in the Steadify’s Kickstarter campaign are a little off-base. The first of those being that it is “the first wearable stabilizer”....
