Accsoon, a company more traditionally tied to wireless video transmission systems has just announced its newest device. It’s the Accsoon SeeMo and it’s basically an HDMI adapter for your iPhone or iPad that lets you turn it into an on-camera field monitor, complete with all of the usual features like zebra stripes, histogram, waveform, focus assist and even a built-in record feature. This isn’t the first HDMI to USB adapter that the company has announced, having previously released the Accsoon M1 earlier this year, which offers similar functionality for Android users. Now, the introduction of the SeeMo brings that functionality to the Apple ecosystem with either an iPhone or an iPad, for those who want a much larger display.

The Accsoon SeeMo is powered by a Sony NP-F-syle battery and connects to your iPhone or iPad through from a Type C socket that not only allows communication between the devices but also provides power to keep your mobile device topped up while in use. A separate 5V output also allows you to power other devices such as microphones, on-camera lights or anything that requires a 5v 1A signal. It offers a wide range of compatibility which covers everything from the iPhone 8 and newer (although a case is required for the iPhone 12 Mini and iPhone 13 Mini), the 6-10th generation iPad, the 3-5th generation iPad Air, 5-6th generation iPad Mini and the iPad Pro 9.7″, 10.5″, 11″ and 12.9″ models.

It takes 1080p video output at up to 60fps from the camera and feeds it into your iPhone or iPad using h.264, with AAC 48KHz 16 bit audio. You can record directly to your iPhone or iPad and even stream it out using RTMP to services such as Facebook Live, YouTube and Twitch. An SDK has also been launched along with the new product to allow 3rd party developers to integrate SeeMo support into their apps. With the native app, though, you get all of the usual features you’d expect from an on-camera monitor including histogram, mirror, zebra, false colour, overlay, waveform, focus assist, channel indicators, grids, corrective distortions and more. It even offers custom LUT support.

The Accsoon SeeMo is available to buy now for $179 and is expected to start shipping in the next week or two.
