The process of making is simple and really quick. Start by folding the LED strip so it has lights on both sides. If the strip doesn’t have a sticky back, use some Scotch tape to fix it. Then, put the LED strip through the draining pipe and fix it with white tape. Finally, shape the pipe in a circle, and seal everything with the white tape.
Once you’ve fixed the circle, that’s all. Plug the LED strip in, hang the light onto the camera and snap the photos. The guys from The Lighting Channel used the “AI lighting” theme for this ring light because it creates tiny circles in the model’s eyes that add a bit of the unnatural look. To enhance this mood further, they used daylight LEDs which have blueish tone. Of course, you can fix the tone in-camera or in post-processing. This is definitely one of the simplest DIY ring light ideas I’ve seen so far. Judging from the video, it seems it even gives decent results. So if you’re looking for a cheap and easy ring light solution to make at home, you can try this one out. And if you do, don’t forget to send us the result.
