It seems that Fuji is having a bit of an issue with firmware updates through the Camera Remote app on either a smartphone or tablet, according to an announcement put out by the company. It doesn’t seem to affect every camera, although, with some, the camera freezes after installing the firmware update from the app. It’s expected to be updated and fixed in the next few days, but for now, if you own the Fuji X-T30, X-T30 II, X-S10, X-T3, X-T4 or X-T5, you’ll want to avoid updating the firmware through the app for now. This doesn’t mean you can’t update your firmware, however. Fujifilm has made the firmware updates available for download so that you can still update from your SD card. Fujifilm says that the freezing issue does not occur when using the SD card.

So, if you’ve been having issues updating the firmware in your Fuji cameras and you’ve been trying to do it through the app, this is why. So, just download the updates from the Fuji website directly and install them via SD and avoid the Camera Remote app for now.

Thank you for your loyalty to Fujifilm products. We found that the following models of the cameras rarely froze right after the completion of the firmware update with the latest version using a smartphone (tablet) in which Camera Remote application software was installed.
