Leica has just announced a pair of APO-Summicron lenses for its full frame mirrorless cameras. Those would be the Leica APO-Summicron-SL 75mm f2 ASPH and Leica APO-Summicron-SL 90mm f2 ASPH. While designed for full frame, they will also work on Leica’s crop sensor cameras, too. These lenses aren’t cheap, though. One’s a little under five grand, the other’s slightly over.
The specs are essentially identical between the two lenses besides the focal length, minimum focus distance and a slight difference in weight. As well as the price, obviously, but for this kind of money, what’s an extra couple of hundred dollars? They feature a new faster autofocus system, Leica say, with a shorter minimum focus distance for tight portraits.

To make it easier to spot the minimal differences between the two, I’ve highlighted those specs in bold. In all other respects, they are identical. Both lenses are available to pre-order now. The APO-Summicron-SL 75mm is $4,750 and the APO-Summicron-SL 90mm is $5,150. The lenses will ship in February.
