The Olympics in Tokyo this year was something of a surreal one. For a start, it was supposed to take place last year, but it just felt quite different to Olympics of the past, particularly when it came to attending as a photographer. Many report having to face certain protocols that haven’t existed in the past due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has made things challenging. For Canon, though, a Gold Partner of the Tokyo 2020 Games (yes, it’s still called that), it was very much a success....

There are things more important than worrying about when you’re light’s going to fade. Finding a dead body at the location you’d chosen to use for a photo shoot is one of them. At least, one would think so. Apparently not for one bunch of models and their photographer. After discovering the body of 27 year old Declan Noonan, the group of eight carried on shooting for six hours. They then went on to go and eat pizza at the local Papa John’s restaurant....

It seems that Microsoft aren’t the only ones who’ve been working on a control dial you can use on a display. At CES2017, Dell introduced what it claims is the “world’s first horizontal smart workspace”. It’s called the Dell Canvas, and it’s a 27″ 2560×1440 resolution touch sensitive display. Dell also announced a new 32″ 8K desktop monitor capable of displaying 1.07 billion colours. It has 100% coverage of both the AdobeRGB and sRGB colour gamuts, but it’s not cheap....

With all of the big mirrorless announcements lately from Nikon and Canon, it’s easy to forget that Fuji were expected to also announce a new camera this week. Fuji X-T3 rumours have been floating around since at least July, but now it’s finally here. And, on paper, it seems like it’s everything we hoped it would be. The X-T3 really appears to be a completely brand new camera from Fuji. It has a new sensor, as well as a new processor and massively improved video capabilities with a major focus on speed....

GoPro just announced their new line of cameras (along with the Karma drone) and frankly I am not that excited. The new line from GoPro is called Hero5 (no big surprises there) and it features only two cameras: a more advanced GoPro Hero5 Black and a smaller GoPro Hero5 session. That, I think, is a good sign that GoPro are getting some of their focus back and not spreading too thin on their camera range....
