Yet another company has come under the wing of The Vitec Group. The company has now acquired Savage, the leading backdrop brand in the industry, and the two companies will merge by the end of this month. Those of you who do studio photography have probably had experience with Savage backdrops. The company is based in Phoenix, US and it’s been around since 1937. It offers high-quality, specialist, seamless paper backdrops....

This is an interesting one. It’s not uncommon these days for companies to feel they can just take that which does not belong to them and then use it for their own commercial gain, particularly when it comes to appropriating images. But after one photographer claims car manufacturer, Volvo stole his images, he’s fighting back, as is the model shown in them. Photographer Jack Schroeder worked with model Britni Sumida on a photo shoot in April 2019 which happened to include a Volvo S60....

There isn’t much that’s more boring in film than just seeing one locked off tripod shot after another. Getting that camera moving really adds emotion to a shot. And watching just about every movie made over the last few decades you’ll spot the same four camera moves. There are others as well, of course, but these four are the staples that exist in almost everything. Those moves are the pan, tilt, boom and dolly....

This seems a little bit weird, but not an entirely unreasonable idea. Godox has filed a patent that looks very similar to the existing Godox V1 speedlight, except that this one includes a built-in cooling fan below the lamp assembly. Lighting Rumours believes that an announcement for the improved “V1 Pro” is imminent. In all other respects, the V1 and new “V1 Pro” detailed in the patent seen to be largely identical....
