The complete Leica press release confirming the “strategic cooperation” between Leica, Panasonic and Sigma has leaked ahead of today’s official announcement. The (Google translated) press release (original in German here) doesn’t say what cameras or lenses might be announced, just that the three companies are working together to release full frame & APS-C cameras and lenses using the Leica L mount. A quote from Sigma CEO, Kazuto Yamaki, does confirm, though, that Sigma is planning to release cameras based on the Leica L mount and not just lenses....

I live in south Florida and spent many nights last summer chasing storms through swamps and along the beach attempting to learn to shoot lightning. I’m a simple hobbyist so please take these suggestions with a grain of salt or at face value…or whatever, you know what I mean. But I’d like to share some lightning photography tips with those who are new to this. Ok so settings usually depend on a couple factors… ambient light (dusk, evening, dark night etc), the distance you are from the storm, and the size of the lighting the storms putting down....

Panasonic has announced a major firmware update for the Panasonic GH6. The new Version 2.0 firmware adds a couple of features that customers have been asking for since the camera was first announced. Namely, 4K 60fps ProRes 422 HQ capture internally as well as full resolution 5.7K and 4K DCI RAW over HDMI output at 60fps and 120fps respectively. And for anamorphic shooters, you also get 5.8K and 4.4K RAW over HDMI....

I wanted to create this image using a simple LED torch in the hopes to inspire others to be creative with whatever they have laying around and hopefully try new things....
