We’ve seen some crazy, creative, and hilarious marriage proposals over the years. Of course, it’s thanks to photographers and their cameras (or at least photo booths) that we were able to see them in the first place. A man recently hired photographer Lauren Moffe to shoot a proposal. Little did she know that the client was her boyfriend and the proposal was her own! The moment was caught on camera, and while videos like this don’t usually make me get all mushy, this one’s actually quite heartwarming.

The proposal occurred in November at Three Sixty Bridge in Austin, Texas. Lauren’s best friend, Lauren Licarione, asked her to come along and take photos while she shot the couple’s proposal video. And as I mentioned, the photographer had no idea that she was “hired” to shoot the proposal of her own. And of course, the other Lauren still filmed the entire thing. Early in the video, you can see Lauren’s partner, Nick Maffeo, asking her two sons for permission to ask their mom to marry him. It’s a really nice gesture, in my opinion. Then you can see Lauren, who seems a bit nervous as she expects the couple the show up so she could take photos. But instead of the unknown couple, she sees Nick and her two boys, and you can see her face becoming all lit up, but with a hint of confusion as well. As Lauren told the New York Post, she believed that Nick was in Japan for work, and that’s why she was so surprised to see him. “I was so happy. I thought I was seeing things,” she said. “I was so confused, as I thought he was in Tokyo.” But nope, Nick was right there, and she quickly figured out why. The video above, shared on SWNS’s YouTube channel, features some really loud music, so you can’t hear the conversations almost at all. But Lauren shared the full video on her TikTok so you can see how everything went.

Super personal but I thought it was so sweet he asked my kids permission to marry me and how he planned all this! Tricked me into photographing my own proposal! 💍 maybe I’ll get some free @Under Armour 😆 thanks for your help setting up @licaroni and e are so happy! #proposal #austinproposal #howheasked #underarmor #wedding #weddingproposal #proposalvideo #weddingphotographer #austin360bridge #austin360 #360bridge #360overlook #austinphotographer #trending ♬ La Vie En Rose – Emily Watts What I love about this video is that it captures genuine reactions (kudos to Lauren Licarione). It seems like it truly was a surprise, and not a staged, “Instagrammable” proposal. And if you have a photographer partner and you plan to pop the question… Well, this might give you some ideas how to do it. [via PetaPixel]
