After launching the world’s first pinhole lens with a variable aperture, Thingify is presenting another awesome innovation for filmmakers and photographers. The Pinhole Pro X is the world’s first zoom pinhole lens. Designed for various mirrorless, DLSR, and Micro 4/3 mounts, it will give you that vintage lo-fi look no matter which camera you’re using.
The Pinhole Pro X was demonstrated at this year’s The Photography Show. The lens is made from a single piece of aviation-grade aluminum and it encapsulates a 0.25mm precision pinhole aperture. It’s made to be durable and precise and to give you a chance to play an experiment with the recognizable pinhole camera aesthetics.
The lens comes in two versions: it covers a 40-60mm focal length range on full-frame cameras, while the APS-C and MFT users can opt for the 18-36mm variant. The Pinhole Pro X 18-36mm is available for Sony E, Fuji X, and Micro 4/3 mounts, while the 40-60mm is available for Canon EF, Nikon F, Sony A, and Pentax K mounts. The manufacturer notes that mount selection and additional options will be available during the backer survey after the Kickstarter campaign ends.
Thingify turned to Kickstarter to fund the lens, and it was fully funded in only five hours. At the time of writing this, there’s nearly $230,800 funded out of the $5,000 goal, and there are still 43 days to go. That’s pretty impressive! You can make your pledge and order a The Pinhole Pro X 18-36mm or a 40-60mm. The early bird price is $69, and there are plenty more offers and bundles which you can check out at Kickstarter. As for the delivery, the estimated shipping date is November 2019.
